Last updated: 6 November 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how The Kalenga Company (“we”, “us”), which operates kalenga.me, collects, uses and protects your personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Who is responsible for your information

The Kalenga Company is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website. Our Information Officer can be contacted at admin@kalenga.me or +27 73 340 1729, or at Ground Floor, Mac Mac Building, Maxwell Office Park, Magwa Crescent, Waterfall City, Midrand, 2090, South Africa.

What we collect

  • Contact and booking enquiries: your name, email address, phone number and the details you include in your message.
  • Book orders: your name, billing and delivery address, email address, phone number and order history. Card payments are processed by Payfast; we never see or store your full card details.
  • AI Readiness Assessments: your name, email address, organisation details (for the business assessment) and your answers, so we can calculate and send your results.
  • Newsletter: your name and email address when you sign up.
  • Keynote feedback: the answers you give in our feedback form.
  • Website usage: technical information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited and cookies (see below).

How we use it

  • To respond to enquiries and arrange speaking, facilitation and advisory engagements.
  • To process, deliver and support your book orders, including refunds and returns.
  • To provide your assessment results and, where you agree, relevant follow-up.
  • To send our newsletter if you have subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
  • To keep the website secure, prevent fraud and spam, and understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

We only process personal information where we have a lawful basis under POPIA: your consent, the performance of a contract with you, a legal obligation, or our legitimate interests in running and securing this website.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the website and our business, under obligations to keep it confidential and secure:

  • Payfast (payment processing)
  • Couriers (delivery of book orders)
  • MailerLite (newsletter delivery)
  • Google (website analytics via Google Analytics and Site Kit, and embedded YouTube videos)
  • Our website hosting, email delivery and security providers (including Wordfence)
  • Our professional advisers, such as accountants and auditors, where necessary

We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights.

Information sent outside South Africa

Some of our service providers (for example Google and MailerLite) store data outside South Africa. Where this happens, we rely on those providers being subject to data protection laws or binding agreements that offer protection substantially similar to POPIA, as required by section 72.

Cookies

This website uses cookies to keep the shop and checkout working, remember your preferences, and measure site usage through Google Analytics. Essential cookies are needed for the site to work. You can manage non-essential cookies through the cookie banner or your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above. Order and financial records are kept for at least five years to meet tax law requirements. Enquiries, assessment responses and feedback are kept for up to three years unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.

How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, security monitoring and regular backups. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the Information Regulator if a security compromise affects you.

Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you and request a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct, update or delete your information;
  • object to our processing of your information, including for direct marketing;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent; and
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@kalenga.me or +27 73 340 1729. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) via inforegulator.org.za.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
